The Salem High girls will try to get back on the winning track Friday when they travel to Christiansburg for a River Ridge District basketball game with the Blue Demons. Salem is 3-2 after opening the season with three wins.
Last Friday the Spartans lost a heart-breaker in Salem, 47-46 to visiting Blacksburg. The Spartans had a 10 point lead in the fourth quarter but let it slip away as the Bruins furiously rallied and Salem went cold at the free throw line. My’la Green led Salem with 14 points and Summer Bayne had 11.
On Tuesday in Roanoke the Spartans dropped a 47-37 game to Patrick Henry. The Patriots led by eight at the half and Salem got no closer than five in the second half as PH was able to come out with the win. Gabby Crawley led the Spartans with 13 points, Zoe Robtison had eight and Emme Custer and Green had seven each.
Next Tuesday the Spartans are back home to host Hidden Valley in their last game before Christmas.
