The Salem High girls keep on rolling. The Spartans improved to 13-1 overall and 6-0 in the River Ridge District with a dominating 50-7 win over Patrick Henry in Roanoke Tuesday.
Salem swept the season series with the win and had a girl go over the 1,000 career point total for the second game in a row. Emme Custer led Salem with 18 points, eclipsing the 1,000 point mark one game after Gabby Crawley did so last Friday at Christiansburg. Bailey Rider had a dozen against PH and all 10 players scored.
“Real happy to see Emme and Gabby get their 1,000th points,” said Salem coach Scott Jester.
Last Friday in Christiansburg the Spartans had no trouble disposing of the Blue Demons with a 79-30 win. Crawley had 24 points to lead the Salemites, needing 21 points coming into the game for the grand total. She nailed a three-pointer in the third quarter to hit the mark. Crawley had lots of help as Rider had 18 points and five rebounds and Custer had 14 points.
The Spartans were at Franklin County for a non-district game on Wednesday, but results were too late for publication. They’ll be home to Pulaski on Friday, then they’re off until next Wednesday, January 21, when they play Lord Botetourt in a non-district game in Daleville.
