
The Salem High softball team is look ing to pick up a River Ridge District win on Friday with a game at Blacksburg. The Bruins were 5-8 through Monday while Salem was 4-11.
The Spartans played host to Cave Spring at the Moyer Complex on Monday and dropped a 14-2 decision. The Knights scored six runs in the second inning as Kennedy Pinkerman relieved starter Kyla Rutledge, who was hurt by some untimely Salem miscues in the field. Cave Spring then put four on the board in the third and fourth and the game was stopped after five innings. Salem had seven hits in the game.
The Spartans next three games are on the road. After Friday’s game at Blacksburg the Spartans go to Hidden Valley next Tuesday and Christiansburg on May 8.
