
Andrew Lewis, GMS open middle school seasons tonight
The Salem and Glenvar football teams will have their first scrimmages of the season this weekend with opening day games just two weeks away. The middle school season opens today for both Andrew Lewis and Glenvar football teams.
Salem High will have a scrimmage on Friday against Maury High, a Class 5 school from Norfolk. It will be held at Fork Union Military Academy’s field off James Madison Highway in Fork Union, Va.. The scrimmage is set for 11 a.m..
Glenvar will be home this Friday to scrimmage William Byrd. Jefferson Forest will also come and scrimmage Byrd at 5 p.m., followed by Glenvar against Byrd. Fans are welcome and there is no admission charge.
After the Glenvar-Byrd scrimmage fans are welcome to stay around for the ribbon cutting of Glenvar’s renovated locker room. The work on the facility was done by G&H Contracting of Salem.
Middle School football begins today for both Lewis and Glenvar. The Wolverines will host Patrick Henry for a doubleheader at Salem Stadium, with the seventh grade team playing at 5 p.m. and the eighth graders to follow at 6:30 p.m.. Brian Hooker returns as head coach of the Wolverines.
Glenvar’s middle school team will open today at 6:30 p.m. at Highlander Stadium against Cave Spring. The Highlanders have a new head coach in Raysean Priest.
