
The Salem boys finished 11th among 31 schools at the Class 4 state swim meet last weekend. The Lafayette boys and Monaca girls won state championships at the SwimRVA facility in Richmond.
“Our swimmers did awesome at finals,” said Salem coach Christen King.
Salem had two relay teams place eighth. The 200 free team of Zach Bocock, Starke Griffith, Mike Bateman and Carter Biscotte was eighth as well as the 400 free team of Jack Lawrence, Griffith, Bateman and Biscotte. The 200 medley team of Griffith, Riley Handy, Lawrence and Bocock was 11th.
Individually, Biscotte took a fifth in the 100 free and a ninth in the 50 free. Bateman was 11th in the 100 free, Riley Miller was 14th in the 100 backstroke and Lawrence finished 15th in the 100 butterfly.
