Salem Mayor Renee Turk, left, addresses attendees during Salem’s inaugural State of the City networking breakfast Sept. 22 at the Salem Civic Center. The event, hosted with assistance from the Salem-Roanoke County Chamber of Commerce, brought together business and community leaders to hear directly from city leadership about Salem’s progress, growth and future.
In outlining the city’s work ahead, Turk highlighted seven strategic priorities: public safety, strong infrastructure, excellent schools, economic opportunity, quality of life, regional partnerships and responsible, long-term planning. The breakfast also provided an opportunity for attendees to network and discuss Salem’s future with fellow community and business leaders.
