Salem police arrested a Roanoke County man Thursday, Aug. 20 and charged him with multiple crimes stemming from an alleged assault that occurred early Wednesday and extended from Salem to Roanoke.
Salem detectives charged Marc Fly, 59, of Roanoke County, with malicious wounding, abusive language, preventing a 911 call, forcible sodomy, strangulation and abduction.
According to police, the incident began shortly after 2 a.m. Wednesday in the 1200 block of West Main Street in Salem. A female victim went to the Salem Public Safety Building on Clay Street and told officers she had been assaulted and abducted by a man she knew.
Police said the alleged assault occurred in Salem before the woman was taken against her will to her residence in Roanoke.
With assistance from the Roanoke City Police Department, the woman was safely secured. Police said Fly had barricaded himself inside the residence but was taken into custody without further incident.
Fly is being held without bond at the Roanoke City Adult Detention Center.
The investigation remains ongoing.
