Salem-Roanoke County Chamber of Commerce holds 83rd Annual Gala

The Salem-Roanoke County Chamber of Commerce held its 83rd Annual Gala on Friday, March 10, from 6:00-11:00 p.m. at the Hotel Roanoke and Conference Center.

Nine award recipients attended the event and received plaques of appreciation from the Chamber for their service to the community.  They were:  Susan Sine, 2016 Roanoke County Educator of the Year; Karey Henzey, 2016 Salem City Educator of the Year; Criminal Investigator John A. Musser, 2016 Roanoke County Law Enforcement Officer of the Year; Officer Spencer St. Cyr, 2016 Salem City Law Enforcement Officer of the Year; Clark Goodman of SERVPRO of Roanoke County, 2016 Chamber Ambassador of the Year; Dave Prosser, Senior Vice President Community Development of Freedom First, the 2016 Judy Griesenbrock Award for Outstanding Volunteer Service; Mike Tyler, the Streets and Maintenance Director for the City of Salem received the 2016 Citizen of the Year; SERVPRO of Roanoke County received the Business of the Year Award; and Anne Marie Green, the human resources director for Roanoke County, was recognized for her service to the Chamber as the 2016 President by current board president, Toni McLawhorn, director of career services of Roanoke College.

The “A-Town, A List” Band from Atlanta, GA performed selections that spanned several generations.  Robert Dementi Photography was the only photographer for the event and Natalie Faunce, the host of Daytime Blue Ridge on WSLS10, was the emcee.

The title sponsor was Aetna.  Media sponsors were: WSLS10, WSLQ-Q99FM, and WFIR News Talk Radio. Other sponsors were: LewisGale Regional Health System, Freedom First, Business Solutions, Cox Communications, Yokohama, Appalachian Power, the Salem Civic Center, Sherwood Memorial Park and Consolidated Construction Services, Inc.
