The Salem-Roanoke County Chamber of Commerce has been invited by American Express to act as a Neighborhood Champion for Small Business Saturday 2017.

This week, Chamber representatives will be visiting some local members to present them with promotional items that they received from American Express such as reusable tote bags, magnets, posters, balloons and doormats.

Jill Sluss, executive director of the Salem-Roanoke County Chamber of Commerce, said, “As an advocate of small business, we are so happy to participate in promoting this special day that is designed for the public to take a day to support local businesses instead of shopping online. We hope that our local citizens will explore businesses that maybe they didn’t know existed and become regular customers there.”

All month long, the Chamber has been conducting an online countdown to Small Business Saturday 2017 and has featured a different small business each day on the Chamber’s social media platforms: Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn. In addition, two local businesses were featured on the organization’s “Meet the Chamber” segment on Tuesday, November 21, on WFJX Fox Radio 910. The businesses featured were Northwest TrueValue Hardware and Sports Haven, Inc.
