The Salem VA Medical Center began a multi-phase renovation project of its main lobby on Monday, No change.
The first phase of the project was expected to last approximately 40 days and included several temporary closures and service changes.
During the initial phase, the Veterans Canteen Service PatriotBrew Coffee Shop closed. Coffee continued to be served from the Medical Center Canteen Kitchen.
The hallway connecting the main lobby and the Emergency Department also closed during construction. However, the primary curbside entrance to the Emergency Department remained open.
The restrooms next to the PatriotBrew Coffee Shop became unavailable during the first phase of the project. Restrooms near Patient Travel inside the main entrance remained open for visitors.
In addition, the Salem VA Credit Union ATM next to the PatriotBrew Coffee Shop became inaccessible during construction. The drive-thru ATM in front of Building 77 remained available.
Tammy Snyder, executive director of the Salem VA Medical Center, announced the project and the temporary service changes as renovations began.
