The Walmart Supercenter on West Main Street reopened on July 11 with a fresh look, a focus on community partnerships, and a reimagined in-store experience.
City officials joined Walmart representatives, employees and community members for a ribbon-cutting ceremony Friday morning to mark the grand reopening of the remodeled store, located at 1851 W. Main St.
Salem Mayor Renee Turk and Councilman Hunter Holliday helped kick off the celebration, which included check presentations to local organizations and recognition of several longtime associates. Attendees were also treated to giveaways from vendors during the event.
“Walmart is always looking for ways to improve our customers shopping experience, and we are excited to better serve Salem and the broader region with a remodeled store that shows off our best new features and services,” the company said in a statement to The Times-Register. “The improvements include new floor displays, improved pickup and delivery, and an entire re-fresh of the store.”
The remodel also includes a new mural designed to highlight the Salem community, underscoring the store’s ongoing efforts to connect with and support local residents.
Whether shopping online or in person, the revamped Salem Supercenter aims to provide customers with the best assortment, prices and experience, Walmart said.
The store remained open during the renovation process, which focused on modernizing the layout, enhancing customer convenience and supporting Walmart’s continued investment in Southwest Virginia.
