Salem’s Eli Bowery was one of five members of the Presbyterian College baseball team who earned a spot on the College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District Team.
Eli met the criteria to be honored as among the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom. To be considered for CSC Academic All-District honors, student-athletes must have at least a 3.50 cumulative grade point average and be at least a sophomore academically and athletically. Student-athletes must have competed in 90 percent of the institution's games played or started in at least 66 percent of the institution's games. For pitchers, a student-athlete must have made at least 17 appearances or pitched 35 innings.
Eli finished his senior season fourth in earned run average and appearances. He had some Division I offers to pitch a post-graduate season but most were from schools farther away from home than he preferred. So, as of now, Eli has concluded his baseball career and will study for his Master of Finance degree at UNC-Wilmington.
