The sandlot football playoffs, leading up to the Sandlot Super Bowl games at Salem Stadium on November 1, are beginning this week.
Salem, Roanoke County, Botetourt County and Franklin County will have teams competing in 8U, 10U and 12U tournaments. The games leading up the Super Bowl will be held at either Northside, Glenvar or Bogle Field with the championship games in Salem.
This Saturday Salem and Glenvar 8U teams will play each other at 9 am at Bogle Field, behind Cave Spring Middle School. The winner will take on the top seeded North Roanoke team at 9 am at Northside on October 18 and three other quarterfinal games will follow at 10:15 am, 11:30 am and 12:45 am.
In the 10U bracket two play-in games are scheduled for this week with semifinals all at Bogle Field on October 18. The 12U Division has just seven teams and it begins with three games at Glenvar on October 18 with the top seed getting a bye.
