The Salem High girls’ soccer team improved to 2-1 with a 5-0 win over Patrick Henry in Roanoke Tuesday.
Shelby Marlman got Salem off to a hot start with the first two goals of the game. Both were assisted by Lily Barnes, then Barnes scored off a Kristen Honaker assist as Salem jumped to a 3-0 halftime lead.
In the second half Abby Mason scored off a corner kick by Honaker, then assisted Anna Pitts for the final goal of the evening. Katie Evans recorded the shutout in goal as Salem outshot the Patriots 19-5.
The Spartans were weathered out of a game at Harrisonburg last Friday, and that will be made up on May 15. Tonight the Salemites will play their final game before spring break when they play Christiansburg at Eastern Montgomery High School’s field in Elliston.
