The Salem High cross country team will host a meet at the Salem Municipal Golf Course on Academy Street in Salem next Wednesday, October 12. Glenvar, Lord Botetourt and Cave Spring have been invited to join the Spartans as they compete over the nine hole course in the middle of Salem.
The meet at the golf course will begin with the girls varsity race at 4:30 pm. The boys’ varsity race is at 5:15 pm and a combined jayvee race will begin at 5:45 pm.
Both Salem and Glenvar were scheduled to run in the Eastern Montgomery Invitational at Camp Alta Mons in Montgomery County on Wednesday of this week. Glenvar was scheduled to run in that meet all along but Salem was a late entry after the Spartans cancelled a trip to the Great American Cross Country in Cary, NC last Saturday due to Hurricane Ian.
The Highlanders are also entered in the popular “Runnin with the Wolves” meet at the Sims Farm this Saturday. The meet is hosted by Jefferson Forest and attracts some top quality teams.
