The Salem High golfers came in second to Hidden Valley in a River Ridge District match in Christiansburg Tuesday.

Garrison Conner led the Spartans with a 72, followed by Makena Witt at 84 and Brian Hutton and Daniel Poff both at 85. Salem had a team score of 326 to Hidden Valley’s 303. Pulaski County was third with 334.

“I told the kids we’ve gotten a little too comfortable around the 320 mark and need to put multiple scores in the 70s as we move forward through the season,” said Salem coach Thad Snyder.

The Spartans will be back in action today in a match hosted by Carroll County, and on Monday they’re at the Roanoke Country Club.

Glenvar had a match at Alleghany postponed this week. The match, originally scheduled for Monday, was moved to Tuesday to avoid the eclipse. Then it was postponed again on Tuesday due to an emergency involving the coach of the host Alleghany team.
