Kevin McAvoy, a pitcher for the Salem Red Sox in the Carolina League, will be the featured speaker at the regular monthly Salem Baseball Booster Club meeting on Monday, July 23, at Jersey Lily’s Roadhouse Restaurant on Electric Road. Evening activities and dinner begins at 5:30 pm with the meeting at 6:30 pm.
McAvoy joined the Red Sox pitching staff from Double A Portland on June 22, and since then has pitched 16.2 innings with a 2.70 ERA.
The Booster Club is a new organization, having been created in October 2017 for the purpose of supporting the Red Sox players and encouraging citizens to become Red Sox fans and support the staff and players. The meeting on July 23 will include discussions concerning Club activities.
Two Booster Club events are scheduled for this weekend — A Silent Auction at the Saturday night Red Sox game and a Pot Luck Dinner for only the Red Sox players on Sunday after the game.
