Spartans will run at Cave Spring meet Saturday

The Salem High track team will be competing in the 15th Annual Knights Track Classic at Cave Spring High School this Saturday. Events begin at 9 a.m. with 18 schools scheduled to attend.

It will be the second week in a row the Spartans will be competing in south Roanoke County. Last Saturday they were entered in the Titan Track Classic at Hidden Valley High.

The boys’ team finished third overall. Tristen Noel won the 400 with Keenan Helm taking second while DaVon Jones won the 300 hurdles with Nicholas Baxley taking third. Jayden Wood won the long jump.

Other high finishes for the boys included Austin Prosser with a second in the 3,200 and John Stovall in second in the 800.

The girls were eighth as a team, led by the relay team of Olivia Huff, Addison Hancock, Caroline Huff and Audrey Harmon who won both the 4×400 and 4×800 races. McKenzie Eversole won the 3,200.
