The William Byrd tennis teams will try to pick up a win Friday night when both the girls and boys play William Fleming. The girls are at home and the boys are at Fleming.

The girls dropped two in the past week 9-0 to Patrick Henry and 8-1 to Hidden Valley.
“We played Hidden Valley much better than we did the first time,” said coach Kayla Mitchell. “Our third doubles, Maggie Steuart and Megan Wu, actually took their opponents into a tie breaker after an eight game pro set.
“We’ve played a lot of great teams so far this season and we’re looking forward to our district play.”
The boys also lost twice, 7-2 to PH and 8-1 to Hidden Valley. Evan Garst won his singles against the Patriots and teamed with Taylor Crouch for a doubles win. Against Hidden Valley Crouch won in singles, 6-2, 6-3. Crouch and Garst have accounted for all of Byrd’s points in the past four matches.
