~ Salem High School graduate wins $1,000 scholarship ~

Heather Milberger of Salem High School is the winner of the Virginia Gentlemen Barbershop Chorus’ 14th annual scholarship. This award is for $1,000.00 and is given each year to a high school senior who has shown exceptional talent, leadership and dedication to their school vocal music programs.

Heather has been a member of Salem Singers, the top ensemble in the Choral Department, for three years.  She sang for the jazz band, was a three-year member of Salem High School’s chapter of the Tri-M Music Honor Society, was a member of the All District Chorus in 2015, and has received the Blue Ribbon Award the past three years.  Heather was also elected to be the Silver Fleet Commander of The Pride of Salem, Salem High School’s Marching Band.  In addition to all of the above activities, she has been a member of the Roanoke Valley Children’s Choir for the past eight years-and graduated with a 3.92 grade point average.

Heather will attend New England Conservatory of Music this fall with the area of interest in Jazz Voice.

The Virginia Gentlemen chorus appeals to men of all ages seeking to be part of a high-quality vocal performing group known for its fun, fellowship and harmony.  The organization is a 501(c) 3 and contributes a portion of its performance proceeds to a scholarship fund which assists local college-bound high school students.
