Virginia State Police Trooper J.L. Hale is investigating a single-vehicle crash which resulted in a fatality. The crash occurred Monday, Jun 25, at 5:12 p.m. on Route 637, one-half mile north of Route 790 in Montgomery County.
A 2005 Hyundai Elantra was traveling north on Route 637 when the vehicle ran off the left side of the roadway and struck a tree.
The driver of the Hyundai was identified as Betty Forbes Conner, 73, of Salem, Virginia. Ms. Conner was not wearing her seatbelt and was transported to Roanoke Memorial Hospital, where she later died.
The crash remains under investigation.
