Volunteer readers are needed to commit to read to a student (grades K-5) they are paired with for a 30-minute weekly appointment at the Salem Public Library.  The Read Together Spring Session runs for six weeks April 3-May 13.

No special skills are needed.  If you can read, you can help!

Volunteers must fill out a volunteer application to be considered for the program. The Salem Public Library may conduct a background check and an interview before admitting volunteers into the program.  Volunteer applications are being accepted between now and March 4 for the spring session that begins April 3. Stop by the library or visit www.salemlibrary.info to fill out an application.  Call the Salem Public Library at 540-375-3089 for more information.

All volunteers will complete the self-paced Read Together Training on Niche Academy prior to their first appointment. They will commit to attend their weekly appointments for the entire session.

Read Together is not a tutoring program; rather, it is intended to provide students with additional support and encouragement on their reading journey. Through the Read Together program, the Salem Public Library aims to spread the joy and power of reading. Volunteer and make a difference in a child’s life.
