Visiting Western Albemarle scored in overtime to take a 12-11 win over the host Salem High lacrosse team in a game at Spartan Field last week.
This one was close throughout. The Warriors led 4-2 after one quarter but Salem tied it at 6-6 by the half. Both teams scored three goals in the third period and two in the fourth to send the game into overtime, and Western Albemarle hit the net first to pull off a big win.
Jake Massey led the Spartans with four goals and two assists. Tanner Dallas had two goals and three assists, Kaiden Garst had three goals and Landon Miles and Kyman Kinney had one goal each. Trey Joyce had six saves in goal.
The loss dropped Salem to 4-3 on the season and the Spartans will try and rebound Thursday when they host Patrick Henry at Spartan Field. Salem will host E.C. Glass on Monday before traveling to Blacksburg on Wednesday, May 4th.
