
The Andrew Lewis Middle School eighth grade football team will be looking to complete an undefeated season this week with a Wednesday game at Pulaski. The Wolverines are 8-0 after a 54-6 win over Northside Middle on Jim Hickam Field last week.
The defense gave the Norsemen fits all game, led by Graham Pollard, Landynn Booth, Kaden Hughes, Mayson Henderson, Josh Elliott and Adrian Simmons, who recovered a Northside fumble. Trystan Gaines scooped up a fumble and ran it back for a score and others who contributed to an outstanding defensive effort were Liam Park, A. J. Parker, Cyrus Walia, Eli King, Sam Gillespie, Cam Scharnus, Mark Salinas and Luca Smith.
The Wolverines jumped on Northside early with 34 first half points. Scoring touchdowns were Pollard, Henderson, Elliott and Aaron Brower, who caught a touchdown pass from quarterback Maclin Hale. Brower also scored two special teams touchdowns, returning a kickoff and a punt for scores.
The offensive line of Jaxson Cooner, Kaden Hughes, Grayson Lavinder, Cam Martin and Alden Sowers controlled the line of scrimmage for Lewis.
Also, the Lewis seventh grade team beat Northside 26-6 to improve to 4-3 on the season. The seventh graders were scheduled to wrap up their season with Central Academy on Wednesday.
