The Roanoke College women’s lacrosse team went down to defeat last Saturday in Newport News, falling to Christopher Newport University, 17-9.
After going down 2-0 in the early going the Maroons rallied back to make it 3-2 by the end of the first period. The Captains responded quickly and it was CNU the rest of the way as RC couldn’t find a way to stop their attack.
Maddie McDonald and Sydney Winpigler led the way offensively for RC with four points each on two goals and two assists. Zoe Blair also tallied a pair of goals in the contest.
Now 1-1, the Maroons return to action this Saturday with a home game against Catholic University. Draw time is 3 pm at Kerr Stadium.
