The Roanoke College women will be battling for a possible first round home game in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference soccer tournament as they wrap up the regular season this week.
The tournament opens Wednesday, November 1, at the sites of the top four seeds.
Coming into the week the Maroons were in sixth place in the conference, but only a half game out of third. Lynchburg and Virginia Wesleyan were tied at the top with 7-1 conference records and three teams were 6-2 in the ODAC, Bridgewater, Randolph-Macon and Washington & Lee. Roanoke was next at 5-2-1 and on Wednesday the Maroons played at winless Hollins, so they were expected to pick up a win there.
Roanoke will wrap up the regular season on Saturday at Bridgewater. Wins in the final two games would likely earn the Maroons a home game for the tournament opener next week.
Roanoke was 8-6-2 overall after dropping a 2-0 decision to Emory University in Atlanta, GA last Saturday. Emory held a 27-6 advantage in shots as Chris Martin made 10 saves in goal for the Maroons.
