Forty-six Salem graduates are attending Virginia Western Community College this fall tuition-free, thanks to Virginia Western’s Community College Access Program (CCAP).

The Virginia Western Community College Educational Foundation, a nonprofit affiliated with Virginia Western Community College, raises support for CCAP through a public/private funding partnership. CCAP provides up to three years of tuition or short-term career credentials for high school graduates who meet program requirements, as funding allows. Since 2008, more than 2,200 Roanoke Valley students have participated in the program. The public program sponsor is the City of Salem.

Current public, private or home school seniors interested in CCAP for fall 2018 should contact their guidance counselor and/or plan to bring their parents or guardians to an upcoming information session held at 6:30 p.m. on these dates at Virginia Western’s Whitman Theater: Nov. 14, Dec. 7, Jan. 18 and Feb. 6. The CCAP application for fall 2018 admission opened Oct. 2, 2017, and closes Feb. 16, 2018.

To stay up-to-date on CCAP news, see virginiawestern.edu/ccap. Sign up for important CCAP updates about application deadlines, financial aid workshops and more by texting “CCAP2018” to 31996. (Reply STOP to cancel, HELP for help; message and data rates apply.)
