The Roanoke College men’s lacrosse team is 6-2 overall and 2-1 in conference play after splitting two big Old Dominion Athletic Conference games last week. The Maroons lost to Washington & Lee in Lexington, 14-10, but bounced back to beat Hampden-Sydney on the road, 9-7.

Last Wednesday at W&L’s Wilson Stadium the Maroons jumped to a 6-4 lead after the first quarter, including a long shot by goalie David Hamilton and two scores from Clayton Bewick. However, the Generals outscored RC 7-1 in the second quarter to take an 11-7 halftime lead. Roanoke cut the lead to 11-9 early in the second half but the Generals held on to win.

Bewick finished with three goals and an assist. Patrick Cullen scored twice and Noah Bell and Jack Savoie had a goal and an assist each. Hamilton finished with 10 saves.

On Saturday Hamilton had 18 saves in the crease to lead the Maroons to the win at Hampden-Sydney. RC led 5-4 at the half and held the Tigers to just three scores after intermission, all in the fourth quarter.

Dell Vidunas, Bell, and Savoie scored two goals each, contributing six of the nine Maroon goals. Weston Hammond, Julian Kammerman, and Clayton Bewick rounded out the scoring effort, each scoring a goal.

The Maroons have another big ODAC game this Saturday when they host the University of Lynchburg at 3 pm.
