The Glenvar girls’ tennis season has come to an end with a loss in the state team quarterfinal round but the boys’ doubles team is still alive and will play this weekend.
The Glenvar boys’ doubles team of Christian Hill and Chaitanya Gohil are scheduled to play in the Virginia High School League Class 2 state semifinals this Friday at Liberty University. Glenvar, the Region 2C champ, will play the Region 2A champion doubles team from Bruton High at noon, while the other semifinal has doubles teams from Region 2B Central of Woodstock and Region 2D champ Marion High.
The state championship will be Saturday, also at Liberty University. It’s also scheduled for noon.
The Glenvar girls played in the state Class 2 quarterfinals at Ridgeview High last Friday and lost to the Wolfpack, 5-0. Ridgeview beat Radford in the semifinal round on Monday, 5-4, and will play Bruton for the state championship today at Liberty University.
“They were solid top to bottom,” said Glenvar coach Shannon Hall.
The girls finished their season 12-8 including the post season.
