The Andrew Lewis Middle School track teams defeated William Byrd Middle School last week at Patterson Stadium in Vinton.
The girls were once again led by top scorer McKenzie Eversole who won the 1600 and 800 meter runs. Olivia Huff was the winner in the 400 meter dash, while Anna Doyle remained undefeated in the Shot Put. Londyn Via won the discus throw.
Taking first place was the 400 meter relay team of Brynn Clewis, Nilay Otey, Marley Harmon, and Amoria Correll. The 1600 meter relay team of Eversole, Huff, Amelia O’Brien, and Jo’Hanna Nugent were also victorious.
The boys were led by top scorer Jahamere Nance, who won the triple jump and the high jump. Ji’Zaiah Haynes won the 100 and 200 meter dashes as well as the long jump. Dustin Peters remained undefeated in the hurdles, while Landon Nunley remained spotless in the 1600 and 800 meter runs.
The 400 meter relay team of Nance, Eli Yates, Jermari Allen, and Zyere Richardson took first place, as did the 1600 meter relay of Nunley, Kavion Foxx, Dalton Williams, and Caleb Hicks. The 3200 meter relay of Riley Ennis, Declan Painter, Aaron Langfitt and Aaron Wiser also took the win.
