The Andrew Lewis football team remained undefeated with a “Monday Night Football” win over Pulaski Middle School in Pulaski Monday. Lewis improved to 7-0, and the seventh grade team also won, 34-16, against William Byrd.
Lat Thursday at Spartan Field the eighth graders took a 42-6 win over Clifton Forge Middle.
The game featured a punt return for a touchdown by Jeffrey Phillips. Other touchdowns were scored by Cam Leftwich, Hunter Bayne, Kyman Kinney and Owyn Dawyot, who also kicked six extra points.
Coach Brian Hooker noted the touchdowns were helped by the blocking of wide receivers Jack Croke, Nick Owen, Omir Isaac, Dylan Bender, Chauncey Logan, Tanner Dallas, Chase Greer, Rashad Whitfield, and Ben Bowers. Bowers also had a one-handed interception in the fourth quarter to end a Clifton Middle drive.
The eighth graders are back at Spartan Field today to play host to Cave Spring at 5 pm.
