The ALHS Class of 1955 had 145 members. Sadly, 67 are now deceased. Thirty-six members, however, will gather on August 7 at the Salem Museum for a lunch buffet and program to commemorate their 66th anniversary.

Class member Joe W. Ferguson is acting as Class Chairman for this event which has been scheduled, delayed and postponed before a definitive date was finalized. The pandemic postponed the Class’s planned 65th anniversary so this is their 65th-66th reunion.

Class member (retired military) Sam Clemons of Granbury, Texas, has generously edited a 2021-2022 Class Directory being digitally sent to all members via social media. It contains a class photo reprint of The Poineer, the school’s yearbook, as well as current historical biographies of class members with their personal recollections since graduation.

The Class Planning Committee has managed to locate all but a few living members, estimated at 95 percent accuracy recently.

Alex Burke of the Salem Museum will be a featured speaker of the Reunion Program retrospectively reviewing via media the year 1955 and the Class of 1955 members’ achievements and honors. Research utilized the archived 1955 weekly editions of the “Salem Times-Register.”
