Andrew Lewis wrestlers take third at Northside Invitational

The Andrew Lewis and Glenvar Middle School wrestling teams competed in the annual Northside Middle School Invitational at Northside High School Saturday.

Lewis finished third in the tournament and Glenvar was 11th among a large group of middle school wrestlers.

Ben Franklin Middle School of Rocky Mount was the team winner with 200.5 points. Ben Franklin’s A team won six first places.

Cave Spring was second with 163.5 points and Lewis had 149. The Lewis A team had two champs, Landon Gutherie at 112 and Trey Boyd at 120. Riley Rutledge finished second at 105 and thirds from the A team went to Walker Chambers, Kyman Kinney, Alijah Morris and George Copeland. First places from the B team went to Joe Lipes at 105, Makai Rogers at 112 and Zach Blair at 128.

Glenvar had an A Division champ at 160 in Blake Custer. Kyle Hanks took a third for the Highlanders at 112. Colvin Delano took a fourth at 136 and Matthew Harris was fourth at 152.

The tournament ended the season for the middle school wrestlers.
