Ben Cline: Cosponsored Legislation to Expand Opportunities for Veterans

Veterans deserve someone who will fight for their economic opportunity. Our Veterans have sacrificed to defend our Nation, and they deserve every opportunity to succeed when they return home. I’m proud to cosponsor the Contract Our Veterans Act of 2026, which would amend the Small Business Act to establish a goal for participation by small businesses owned and controlled by veterans in federal procurement contracts.

This bill would expand the Department of Veterans Affairs’ Veterans First contracting model governmentwide, giving veteran-owned small businesses a first look at federal contracting opportunities without authorizing new spending or creating a new government program.

Our Veterans answered the call to serve America. Now, we should make sure America gives them every opportunity to build successful businesses, create jobs, and contribute to the communities they fought to protect.

Stood Firm Against Democrat Court Packing

Last week, my Republican colleagues and I stood together in the House to protect the independence of the Supreme Court and oppose efforts by Democrats to expand the Court for political purposes. House Republicans voted to enshrine nine justices on the Supreme Court and preserve the integrity of our judicial branch. Democrats’ opposition to this effort demonstrates their willingness to reshape our institutions for political gain.

The American people deserve an independent judiciary that follows the Constitution, not one that is reshaped to advance a political agenda. My Republican colleagues and I will continue to stand for the principles and traditions of separation of powers that have served as the foundation of our government for generations.

We must protect the rule of law and ensure our courts remain independent from political influence. I will continue fighting to defend the Constitution and preserve the integrity of our judicial system for future generations.

Kept Socialism Out of America

Our Nation was built on the principles of freedom, individual opportunity, and limited government. Last week, the House voted to condemn socialism and reaffirm our commitment to the constitutional principles that have guided our country for generations. The resolution passed with 192 Democrats voting against it.

I am proud to stand with my Republican colleagues in defending the principles our Founding Fathers established and protecting the freedoms that make America exceptional.

Socialism has no place in the foundation of our constitutional republic. I will continue working to uphold individual liberty, free enterprise, and the rule of law while protecting the values that have made our Nation strong.

Took Action to Prevent a Government Shutdown

Last week, my colleagues and I in the House approved a bipartisan funding agreement to keep the federal government open through early December, ensuring that essential services continue and the government can keep working for the American people. This bipartisan effort provides stability and allows Congress to continue focusing on the important work ahead.

Keeping the government running means continuing to deliver for the people we represent, from Virginia’s Sixth District to communities across our entire Nation. I am proud to support responsible action that keeps our government operating and ensures we remain focused on serving the American people.

I will continue working with my colleagues to advance solutions that support our constituents, strengthen our Nation, and keep the government working effectively.

Protected Americans from Threats

I was honored to join the House Intelligence Committee in remembrance of the site where United Airlines Flight 93 crashed on September 11, 2001.

This was a powerful reminder of the extraordinary courage, selflessness, and sacrifice of the 40 passengers and crew members who fought back against the terrorists and gave their lives to save others. Their actions helped thwart the terrorists’ planned attack on our Nation’s Capitol and remain a lasting example of American courage in the face of evil.

We will never forget the lives lost on September 11, the families who continue to carry their loss, and the heroes whose bravery continues to inspire our Nation. May we always honor their memory and the sacrifice they made for their fellow Americans.

Thank you for the opportunity to serve as your Congressman. If my office can ever be of assistance, please contact my Washington office at (202) 225-5431.
