The Botetourt Family YMCA has opened a campaign office in Daleville as it begins to focus on the community phase of the campaign to raise the final $2 million for the proposed YMCA that will be built at Daleville Town Center.

The office is located inside the John Alderson Insurance Agency, which was donated by John Alderson, the co-chair of the Botetourt Family YMCA capital campaign. The campaign office will be staffed by two part-time employees and Botetourt residents, Frances Burkholder and Gayle Eubank.

In the fall of last year, the YMCA of Roanoke Valley announced the start of the community phase in the capital campaign to raise the final money and pledges needed to construct the envisioned YMCA for the Botetourt community.

Bill Kirk, a YMCA Corporate Board member and long-time supporter of the Y, pledged a gift of $300,000 to the project if the Botetourt community could also raise $300,000 by June 2017. To date, the community has raised $173,000.

“We are still on track to break ground this summer, but in order to give Botetourt the best possible Y, we need the community’s support to raise the final $2 million needed,” said Mark Johnson, president and CEO of the YMCA of Roanoke Valley.

“The Botetourt Y will engage men, women and children – regardless of age, income or background, nurture the potential of children and teens, improve the community’s health and well-being, and provide opportunities to give back and support neighbors. Now is the time for the community to help us get to the finish line so we can plant the seeds for improving the quality of life in Botetourt County,” said Johnson.

The Botetourt capital campaign office is located at 1215 Roanoke Road, No. 101 to close out the final months of the community campaign.

Financial pledges will be accepted at this location or can be made by contacting Dale Paris, Director of Development, at dparris@ymcaroanoke.org or at 540-527-9622, Ext. 3122 or online at www.YMCARoanoke.org/Give.
