Malanie P. Jones

Malanie Parker Jones, 88, of Fincastle died Sunday, February 19, 2017 at Carrington Place of Daleville.

Malanie was born in Fincastle August 23, 1928 and lived in the area all her life. She was a graduate of Academy Hill School and worked at The Homestead and for Botetourt County Schools. Malanie was a member of First Baptist Church of Fincastle, and past-treasurer of the church for many years. She was a past president of the Willing Workers Club, served on the Fincastle Town Council for 32 years and was very active in her community.

Malanie was preceded in death by her mother, Sarah Parker; husband, Lorraine Lester Jones Sr.; sister, Ida Mae Tucker; and brothers, Brooks Parker, Elwood Parker, and James Parker.

She is survived by her sons, Elwood D. Jones of Manassas, Va. and Lorraine Lester Jones Jr. of Crofton, Md.; and her nephew, Michael J. Tucker, PhD. of Manassas.

Malanie’s homegoing service will be 1 p.m. Thursday, February 23 at Rader Funeral Home, 630 Roanoke Road, Daleville with the Rev. Montie E. Brown officiating. Burial will be in First Baptist Church of Fincastle Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home 6-8 p.m. Wednesday. Memorial contributions may be made to Fincastle Volunteer Rescue Squad, 10 South Factory Street, Fincastle, 24090. On-line condolences may be made to Malanie’s family at www.rader-funeralhome.com.
