The Glenvar soccer teams swept Floyd County on the road Tuesday night as they prepare for the coming Conference 38 tournaments.

Glenvar’s boys got a goal from Dakota Lamb, assisted by Hank Conner, in a 1-0 win over the Buffaloes. That avenged a 2-1 overtime loss to Floyd in Glenvar last week and improved the Highlanders record to 5-7 on the season. The boys lost at Giles on Monday, 7-0.

The girls beat Floyd handily, 7-0, on Tuesday to improve to 6-4-2 on the season. On Monday Glenvar won at Giles, 3-2, in an overtime thriller.

The game was a scoreless tie at the half but Glenvar scored two early second half goals, as Kyleigh Drew scored off of an assist from Kelci Horner and Horner then scored on a penalty kick. However, Giles rallied to score twice and tie the score.

The game went into overtime and Horner scored an unassisted goal early in the first overtime period. The defense then toughened and the girls got out of Pearisburg with a big win.

Both teams were scheduled to host Radford on Wednesday, and Friday both the boys and girls will play James River in Buchanan. That’s the regular season finale, with Conference 38 play scheduled to begin next week.
