The Glenvar softball team was looking to run their winning streak to five games when they traveled to Floyd County for a Three Rivers District game Wednesday. The Highlanders are back home Friday to host Alleghany.
The Highlanders have been on a roll of late. Last Wednesday at Northside they pounded out a dozen hits in a 6-5 win over the host Vikings. Audrey Moles, Abby Teubert, Hannah Street and Madison Duncan had two hits each to lead Glenvar and Zella Hayes had a home run. Street picked up the win in the circle, fanning a dozen.
Last Friday at Radford the Highlanders improved to 12-5 with their fourth straight win, an 18-0 shutout of the host Bobcats as Teubert pitched a no-hitter with nine punch-outs. The Highlanders had 17 hits in this game, led by Moles with four hits and three runs batted in. Teubert and Street had three hits each and Hayes and Haley Leginus had two.
The Highlanders were scheduled to play at James River on Monday of this week but that game was rained out and rescheduled for next Monday, May 19, in Buchanan.
