The Glenvar boys tennis team was defeated by Grayson County in the opening round of the Region 2A West tennis tournament Monday. The Blue Devils took a 5-1 win at GHS.

Glenvar’s point came from Zach Chittum, who won in two sets. Glenvar was the Conference 38 champion.

“I thought we had a good year,” said coach Mark Rohrback. “We lost three seniors from last year’s team and we won the conference.”

In the singles competition Glenvar’s Adonis Rose was defeated by a Union High player in the regional at Virginia Tech. Rose and Freddy Eichelman will represent Glenvar in the doubles tournament, which was scheduled to begin Wednesday.

For the girls, Kara Wright was eliminated Conference 38 in the singles tournament last week, as was the doubles team of Wright and Riley Ginger. Both lost to Giles opponents.
