Something happened in Salem recently that longtime resident Dr. Fredric Eichelman will never forget – Happy Trails Virginia Style bringing one of their popular Western genre events to the city. When the production made its way to CommUNITY Church at 1923 E Main Street from April 16-18, Eichelman, 86, was front and center.

Both former educators, Eichelman and his wife Carolyn started coordinating media events, such as the Happy Trails Virginia Style, when they retired.

“I have been around for a long time,” said Eichelman who has been handicapped since March 1 due to knee surgery. “My wife and I have been married since 1960, and we both agree that this particular program was the most special event that we have ever taken part in.”

Over a dozen actors graced the stage over the three days. To keep people safe, attendees were asked to wear a face covering. “The tweaking to improve the program never seems to end,” Eichelman said. “I encourage everyone to experience a Happy Trails Virginia Style event at least once because they won’t be disappointed.”
