The Glenvar girls have four more chances to pick up a win and avoid a third consecutive winless season. The Highlanders are 0-17 after falling at Patrick County Tuesday night, 53-35.
The Highlanders are home tonight to take on Martinsville, who comes into the week with just six wins. On Monday the girls have a non-district game at home against Giles, who has won just twice and is winless in the Mountain Empire District. Then the Highlanders finish the regular season at home against Floyd on Tuesday and at Carroll County on Wednesday, February 18.
The Highlanders played at Radford last Thursday and lost 58-38. Audrey Moles led the team with 17 points while Ryan Jones had eight and Halie Watkins had seven. Tuesday’s loss at Patrick County was Glenvar’s 59th in a row dating back to March of 2023.
“We’ve played well in spurts but are still working to get a full game together as a team,” said Glenvar coach Cheryl Hayes. “I really think if we can do that we’ll be successful, and that means more than wins and losses.”
