Glenvar High senior swimmers recognized on “Senior Night” included, left to right; Grayson Shearer, Landon Cairns, Darren Delby, Lincoln Boren, Avery Thompson, Sophie Childers, Addi Cockram, Grace DeWeese and Rayah Kelley.

The Glenvar swimmers were scheduled to compete in the Region 2C swim meet at Hargrave Military Academy in Chatham Wednesday. Results were too late for publication.

After 10 days of inactivity the Highlanders were able to get in a meet against Salem last week for “Senior Night.” Nine senior swimmers were honored on the last regular season meet of the season.

Individually, Glenvar saw several standout swims. Aspen Thompson captured first place in the boys 200 freestyle with a 2:02.54 and later added a second-place finish in the 100 freestyle at 52.03. Senior Landon Cairns earned a pair of victories, winning the 200 IM in 2:14.22 and the 100 breaststroke in 1:06.99.

On the girls side, Macy McMahon delivered a strong performance with a win in the 100 butterfly and another victory in the 100 backstroke, leading the Highlanders in multiple events. Chloe Childers added a first-place finish in the 100 breaststroke, while Sophie Childers contributed key points with solid swims in the sprint freestyle events.

“More than the final results, the meet served as a celebration of Glenvar’s nine seniors whose leadership helped shape the program this season,” said coach Shannon Hall.
