
The Glenvar volleyball team had a showdown with Three Rivers District rival James River on Tuesday at GHS. Both teams came into the match with just one loss and Glenvar came out with one loss after winning the match in three sets, 25-14, 25-13 and 25-19.
Glenvar dominated the first two sets and was well on the way to easy win in the third when the Knights battled back to tie the set at 17-17. However, coach Mark Rohrback settled them down and Glenvar finished off the win. Macy McMahon and Emily Rohrback had seven kills each and Zella Hayes had six.
The Highlanders have been playing well. Last Thursday in Hillsville they swept a good Carroll County team in three sets, 25-19, 25-21 and 25-20. Hayes had 14 kills, Sophia Hammersley had 15 assists and Emily Rohrback had six kills, 19 assists, 10 digs and four aces.
“Very excited about the road win on Thursday night of Homecoming week,” said coach Mark Rohrback.
Now 7-1, the Highlanders are at Radford tonight followed by a home match with William Byrd on Monday, then a trip to Patrick County on Tuesday.
