The Glenvar baseball team is on a roll. After losing their first six games of the season the Highlanders have now won four in a row.
“Our bats are starting to come alive,” said Glenvar coach Jeremy Cromer. “We had a rough start but the kids never gave up and it’s starting to pay off.”
Last Thursday at home Glenvar took a 3-0 win over Floyd County as freshman Cam Feazell pitched a complete game one-hitter. Feazell struck out six and only walked one.
Another freshman, Jake Franklin, was called up from the jayvee team and contributed a big triple and drove in two runs. A third freshman, Jack Osburn, had the other RBI.
On Tuesday at Alleghany Franklin had two hits, including a home run, as Glenvar made it four in a row with a 7-2 win over the host Cougars. Osburn had two hits and Feazell and Landyn Pickard had RBIs.
Cale Vaughan picked up his third straight win on the mound, allowing two earned runs in four and a third innings. Feazell pitched the last two and two-thirds and closed out the win.
The Highlanders are off the rest of the week but they’ll return with home games Monday and Tuesday against Hidden Valley and Patrick County. A week from today they go to Carroll County.
