It’s a wrap

Monday was one of the saddest days of the year. The END of football season.

It started back in August with high hopes for high school, college and pro teams. Slowly but surely their seasons ended and, if they were any good, they most likely ended with a loss. If you don’t end with a loss, you either won the championship or you didn’t make the playoffs.

Our season ending football contest was in the Christmas edition and at that time the college playoffs were just starting and the NFL was still in the regular season. So, picking the champion in each wasn’t easy. In fact, several of our contestants missed 11 or 12 of the 15 games.

However, Diane Beason wasn’t one of them. She missed just four games, which was two better than anyone else in the contest. Diane missed TCU over UCLA, didn’t have Miami in the college semifinals and had the Patriots over the 49ers in the Super Bowl for her other two misses. That was pretty good, so she’ll get the $50 gift certificate from Mac & Bob’s and a year’s subscription to the Salem Times-Register.

For our final 19th hole winner the day of free golf goes to Bob Kiker, who picked the Seahawks to win the Super Bowl. He won’t be out there in the next week or two but warmer weather is coming. It HAS TOO!!

Thanks to everyone for playing our contest this year. We’ll be back in August for another six months of football. I can hardly wait.
