Salem High senior Macy Johnson shot a two-over-par 74 at the Virginia State Girls High School Golf Championship Tournament Monday. The tournament, for girls from all Virginia High School League classifications, was held at the par 72 Twin Lakes Golf Club in Clifton, VA.
Elsie MacCleery of Western Albemarle High School won the state championship with a round of 70, followed by Makayla Grubb of Colonial Forge at 71. Johnson’s 74 tied for sixth place in the state and Macy was awarded with an all-state medal. She had 14 pars, one birdie and three bogies for her round.
