Kendrick calls Bruin upset, wins contest

Normally you’re pretty safe picking Salem to win in our weekly football contest. In fact, over the past five and a half years if you picked the Spartans time among 75 games played you would have only been wrong eight times.

One of those times was last Friday, and that was just enough for Roy Kendrick to win. Roy was the ONLY contestant who saw that truck coming and that was the difference as he won the contest. Actually he needed the point total to break a tie, but his 60 points edged a couple others who tied him as the actual total was 63 by Chattanooga over VMI.

For having the foresight to pick Salem to lose, Roy will get a $50 gift certificate from Mac & Bob’s along with prizes from Joe’s Deli, Awful Arthur’s and the Sportsman’s Warehouse. Way to go Roy.

For last week’s “One for the Road” contest I asked you to tell me who would pass for the most yards in an NFL game last week. The high yardage was 378 by Tom Brady and Pam Cassell almost nailed it, picking Brady and 375. Several others picked Brady but the “Little General” was closest to the points so she gets the atlas from Hettie Barnes.

For this week’s “One for the Road,” give me your prediction on Virginia Tech’s big game with Clemson this week. Tell me the winner and the score, and the closest gets the atlas from Hettie.

Also, I now have all the prizes and will be sending them out to the winners from the first five weeks on Wednesday, so check you mailbox if you’ve won.
