The Kiwanis Club of Roanoke is pleased to announce this year’s Career & Technical Awards totaled $10,500. The program began in 1971 to recognize students who have made outstanding achievements in their career and technical education field of study. Each year, the Club presents awards to seniors in Roanoke City and Roanoke County high schools who have been recommended by their schools for special recognition.

Each student completes an application, collects letters of reference, prepares an essay, and prepares a portfolio of their work and future plans. School representatives select 6 individuals from each school system, who are then interviewed by a committee of Kiwanians. On May 3, the following awards were presented:

Lyndsey Spangler ($750) – Northside High School – Marketing, sponsored by Brown, Edwards & Company

Gerald Smith ($750) – Burton Center for Arts & Technology – Cybersecurity, sponsored by Kiwanis Club of Roanoke

Nick St Pierre ($1,500 Super Achiever) – Burton Center for Arts & Technology – Engineering, sponsored by Kiwanis Club of Roanoke and given the Lloyd G. Bair Award, dedicated to the memory of Mr. Bair, a life member of the Kiwanis Foundation, a longtime member Kiwanis
