The Andrew Lewis Middle School 8th grade football team ran their record to 7-0 on the season with a 38-0 shutout victory over the Norsemen at Northside Middle School last week.
Among the many offensive highlights was a long touchdown run by Jordan McCadden, a 50 yard pass from Tanner Overstreet to Nasir Ward for a touchdown and several short touchdown runs by Kyshead Arrington. The offensive line of Jamalachi Law, Robert McDaniel, Michael Crawley, Tucker Preas, Winston Wolfe, and Ethan Millard performed very well in the win.
On the defensive side, Kobe Hairston intercepted a pass to end a Northside drive while defensive ends Aiden Hoffman and Joseph Henderson played a strong game. The team will be in action again today as they travel to Cave Spring Middle to play the Squires at 5pm at Bogle Field.
The Lewis 7th grade team is now 5-3 on the season with a tough 8-6 loss to Smith Mountain Lake Christian last Thursday. The team was scheduled to play Cave Spring on Monday but that game was postponed. The 7th grade Wolverines will travel to Clifton Forge today to take on the Mountaineers at 5:30 pm.
Glenvar Middle School ended up on the short end of the stick with a 20-6 loss to at Cave Spring last Thursday. Glenvar’s lone TD came from Ranger Swanson with a 3 yard run.
“I think we were evenly matched but they made fewer mistakes than we did and the result showed,” said coach Neil Swanson. “We need to get our heads straight because we have Central Academy at Central this Thursday at 5:30.”
