The Andrew Lewis girls remained undefeated in basketball with a 51-8 win over Northside at the Andrew Lewis gym last Thursday.

Summer Bayne had 14 points to lead the Wolverines while Brynn Bowen came off the bench to score nine, hitting back-to-back three pointers. Zoe Robtison had eight points and Kennedy Scales had a half dozen.

Abbie Baker led Lewis with six rebounds, followed by Neelah Logan with five. Scales had three steals and Bayne had two as the girls’ improved to 4-0.

“I thought our girls did a great job against Northside, coming out focused on both offense and defense,” said coach Nat Franklin. “I was especially happy with our defensive rotations and passing on offense.”

The boys were at Northside, where they fell to 2-2 with a 49-29 loss to the Norse. Tanner Dallas led Lewis with eight points and coach Brandon Keith credited Chauncey Logan with a good job on defense.

“We played hard but came up short on the offensive and defensive ends,” said Keith. “Our goal is to improve on our mistakes and move forward.”

Both teams played William Byrd and Lucy Addison this week, but results were too late for early Thanksgiving deadlines. On Tuesday, November 28, the girls are at Read Mountain and the boys play Read Mountain at Lewis.

The Lewis wrestlers will have their first home match on Wednesday, November 29, against Hidden Valley, Christiansburg and North Cross.
